Tulip Update

A couple of weeks ago, I started this project with the bulbs free standing in a vase with just water.  I started off with four bulbs and have had to toss two of them because they have started to mold.  However, I have two growing very strong.  I should have a couple of tulips blooming in the next few day or so!

Bowling with the Scouts

On Saturday, we went to the Wolf's Bowling Party at GRC.  All of the Scouts participated in the activity except for one, along with siblings.  They were able to snack on cheese pizza and a drink, and at the end, everyone earned their Bowling Belt Loop.
Brewer had a blast bowling with the Scouts.  They each were fighting over who would help him set up the ramp and set up the bowling ball.  In the end though, he was bowling like the big guys!  A funny thing too, Brewer out scored all of them:)
All of the Scouts hung around the score board awaiting their turns and cheering on their friends!
Cooper and his friend Conner snuck away to get their pictures taken in the photo booth.  They are definitely goofy when they are together!
Here is the duo outside of the photo booth.

I'm Official

On Thursday, I received a letter in the mail with a "Verification of Program Completion" from Carthage.  All of my paperwork has been submitted and my license is now in the hands of the DPI.
Now, I just need to complete the next step and find a job!!!

Happy Valentine's Day

The past couple of year's, have really enjoyed making the boys Valentine's for them to give to their friends.  I look for ideas that represent them, but also something fun.
Brewer's Valentine said "May the Force be with you, Happy Valentine's Day, Brewer."  We attached a glow stick bracelet to each of them.
For Cooper, we did Angry Birds with this idea.  He sorted all of the gumballs, put them into the bags, signed the cards, and helped me attach the card to the bag.
We hope everyone had an enjoyable Valentine's Day this year.  We celebrated last Saturday with a fun Fondue night, dessert and all!

Star of the Week

This past week, Brewer was the Star Student!  He was so excited to sit in the chair that only the star can sit in!
He even helped me complete his Star of the Week pages, so that his friends can get to know him a little better.  He was able to share all of his favorties in his world.
At the end of the school year, the teachers will put all of the Student of the Week's pages together into a classbook for everyone to have.

Cooper's Rock Collection

For one of Cooper's Scout Electives, Cooper needs to find or create a collection of something he finds interesting.  For Christmas he got a Rock Tumbler from Santa, and thought this would be a perfect collection to make for Scouts.
This is the beginning of the process.  Step 1 of the tumbler only took 3 days to complete.
After day 3, this is how they look.   Now we are onto Step 2 which will take 15 days.  We are looking forward to seeing the end result of Cooper's Rock Collection.

Snowman of 2013

On Thursday, we finally had a decent snowfall of wet snow.  The kind of snow that is perfect for building a snowman!  As soon as we got home, Cooper went to work, rolling each of the three sections.  He did ask for some help to get the middle one up, but other than that, he created the snowman all by himself!
He grab a couple of rocks from the front of the house for the eyes, a carrot for the nose, grapevines for the arms, and a scarf and hat from inside.  The only problem is...
Buster was not too keen on the new creation in HIS backyard.  The first night he barked at the snowman and the next morning, Buster decided to mark his territory.  Yes, Buster has disrespected the snowman!

Real Pirates

Today, we went to the Milwaukee Public Musuem to check out their Real Pirates display.  Unfortunately, I forgot the camera sitting on the counter at home, so we had to use the Ipod to take the pictures.
This display was Barry Clifford's quest to discover a childhood story that was told to him by his dad of the pirate ship, the Whydah, that sunk off the coast of Cape Cod in 1717.  After much research at the library and searching the possible location off the coast, he finally found his treasure...the sunken ship of the Whydah and a bounty of loot!
The boys had a great time looking at all of the discoveries and loot.  We were there for over 3.5 hours looking at all of the exhibits the museum had to offer.  We were impressed on their level of interest.
We found their Butterfly room and went in to check it out.  The butterflies would land on our hands if we stood really still and quiet.
There were stations like this all over the room for the butterflies to land and feed on fresh fruit and nectar.
This is the first butterfly that we came into contact with and Cooper was brave enough to hold him.  We were able to get one for Brewer to hold, but we were not quick enough with the camera, but the smile was priceless.

2nd Annual Pinewood Derby

On Saturday, we had our second annual Pinewood Derby for Pack 583.  This year it was held at Wesley United Methodist Church.
Cooper designed a shark car for this year's Derby with the help of Dad.
For the most part, he was running an average of 3.679 seconds per run.  But unfortunately, it was not fast enough.
Cooper was a little bummed out that he did not place this year, but we talked a lot of the importance of being a good sport.  He did a great job!
Brewer's design this year was a rhino, a very colorful rhino!
Here is his car running in first place in this run, however, he did not run fast enough and also did not take a place.  Both boys did an amazing job in the Derby!

Our Little Pirate

Brewer has been infatuated with Jake and the Neverland Pirates lately.  Earlier this week, he got to go to Target to spend his money, and he choose the Jake and the Neverland Pirate Telescope and head gear.  Yo Ho Ho, to the Land of Pirates We Go!

2nd Tooth

Cooper lost his 2nd tooth on January 30th while at lunch at school.  He was super excited to bring home a handy-dandy tooth holder from school that day.  The Tooth Fairy kindly left him 50 cents in his blue tin.

Tulip's In A Vase

Last week I started a Pintrest experiment with the tulip bulps in a vase with just water and decorative rocks.
I started off with four bulbs, but had to dispose of one of them because it started to mold.
In less than one week, I have five sprouts along with good root growth.  I am excited to see if I get tulips in my living room!
